Congratulations to everyone in the village who have been hard at work in their gardens this year despite the poor summer weather. The number of beautiful gardens and hanging baskets seem to increase every year and this has proved quite a challenge for the judges in the annual In Bloom Garden Competition. Like last year, the competition followed the same format in that we did not invite people to enter a competition as such and all gardens/hanging baskets have been considered. A total of 20 gardens, 8 small gardens and 19 hanging baskets were short-listed, presenting the judges with the lengthy and difficult task of selecting the best from so many outstanding gardens.
The winners, who will be presented with the awards at a ceremony later in the year, are as follows:

Best Garden: - Joint Winners: Mr & Mrs P Rose (13 Cedar Drive) and Miss E Durie (15 Cedar Drive) judged as one garden and Mr & Mrs G Ross of 43 South Seton Park. 2nd: Mr & Mrs Gilligan of 109 North Seton Park.

Best Small Garden:- Mrs Scott, 11 Forth Grove, 2nd: Mr & Mrs T Reid, 150 South Seton Park, 3rd: Mr D Runciman, 13 Hawthorne Terrace.

Best Hanging Basket:- Mr A Johnston, 4 Edinburgh Road, 2nd: Mr & Mrs Higgins, 33 Forth Court, 3rd Mr & Mrs Ross, 21 Links Walk.

(The judges commented that this was a difficult competition to judge with the top six very close in standard).

Well done everyone – there were many Highly Commended gardens/hanging baskets too.
